Pole Pole lodge is a beautiful eco resort on Mafia Island off the coast of Tanzania. They asked me to design and build them a unique swimming pool and lounge area that fit with their ‘sense of place’.

We used coconut wood from the surrounding plantations for the decking, traditional swahili colored plastering techniques and pieces of an old Jahazi trading ship that had been wrecked on the island.
